does anyone know where i should try some lbg around se qld or nth nsw. since moving here from SA have found it hard to get into decent fish from the bank,
interested in chasing tuna, maceral, bonito, jewies. or anything of any size.
tried the seaway seems a little overfished.
Noosa National Park is probably your best bet. A bit of a walk but good areas out near Hells Gates and back towards the Fairy Pools.
The rock walls at the Tweed and Brunswick Heads would be worth a go for Jew.

howd;y yellowhunter i also am a new to qld ( 2 years) lbg head with a couple of 50 kilo beastsrand some horrific battles that the arms will never forget. i have picked some old salts brains around the traps and have found some posses mostly in northern n.s.w.would love to organise a trip before the april hat head expo so if interested and the ### wind ever stops blowing post me back and we will get in contact as the big gears feeling pretty unloved so far this season . happy days foockchucker
the iron peg, black rock, snapper rocks when its deep,cabba head land, tweed bar and fingal headland. if ya know what ur doin and what to look for then ya will catch at these spots. but do be careful and watch the waves for a bit as it can get pretty rough in these areas. broken 3 lbg spin outfits at the iron peg on tuna.
This topic tends to get thrown up a few times each year. There is no easy way of getting into LBG in southern Qld the ledges are shallow and rare. To the north and south there are some reasonably nearby options like Noosa as pointed out and Hat Head. If I were still living on the gold coast I'd probably just do some dawn spin sessions on the seaway, tweed walls and snapper rocks maybe. There are so many factors working against you for LBG in Sthern Qld that it is really more worthwhile in my view to concentrate on lure casting estuary systems, impoundments and the occasional dip in the surf. When you see the kind of mayhem you have to deal with at places like the southern seaway wall you will understand that LBG down that way is really a nightmare (good if you like a challenge maybe).
I have seen a guy catch a tuna and a kingy off the south seaway wall using lures. Early morning before the wind gets up and small swell (unless you are dead set crazy). The kingy was small and came in pretty easy. Tuna was a different story. Took the guy maybe 30 minutes to get it in. By that time the jet skis and boats were really starting to head out of the seaway. The line literally clothes-lined a guy on a jet ski, lucky for him it wasn't braid!! I was amazed that the fish was landed, as numerous boats and jet skis went right over the line pretty much where it entered the water. Have seen a couple other fish (tuna) hooked at the same spot (at this time of year) but for some reason the guys didn't have a gaff. Both fish were lost in the rocks at their feet.
