    Hervey Bay

G'Day all. Just wondering what the Roy Rufus Artificial Reef consists of and any details of size etc. Also is there another artificial reef close to Cabbage Patch, any marks or details would be great.
I'm heading up there in two weeks and just sussin' out for spots.

    Cheers MON. [smiley=help.gif]

Mon, The Rufus artificial is a scatttered reef over a fairly large area. It's made up of boats, barges, cars, etc etc etc.
When you get up there, ask at any of the boat or tackle shops about a booklet which will give you details of this reef and GPS marks for different parts of it as well as marks for numerous other fishing spots in H.Bay.
    Cheers Don.

Check this site for a rough map of the area.
    http://www.fishntales.com/fishinginf.../localmaps.htm

In fact if you are interested I just trawled through my stuff here and found a spare copy of some old fishing maps of the area with several markings for the better 'dive' spots on the artificial. It says dive spots but I have fished them all with success. My biggest snapper caught in Queensland came from the Three Wrecks and my best coral trout from the Boiler Drop on the Arti.

If you want it message me and I'll post it to you. Consists of 20 A3 pages.

It will cost you a beer if we ever meet up sometime.

    Cheers

    Re: Hervey Bay

Mon if you go to this page it will tell you a bit about the ships that have been sunk along the back of Big Woody Island http://www.fishntales.com/herveybay/scuba.htm. If you go to Fisherman’s Corner (obviously a tackle shop) on the Esplanade at Scarness they have books with GPS marks in them for all over the bay. Mossy.
