Shaggy,
Have fished Coochin a bit in past years, from my canoe. Have driven around the northside of the creek a bit and have noticed many land-based locations. Some suggestions would be:
East of the Camping are: the main road travels for quite a few kilometres east along Roys Road. It actually runs right along the edge of the creek. Have noticed a few boat launching areas here. This area is mainly a sandy bottom and have caught nice whiting and the occasional lizard in this area.
West of the camping ground: There are many forestry tracks that lead off Roys Road down to the creek. Have seen 4WDs as well as 2WD's parked down on the creek edge (some launch their small boats from these locations) and travel west up into the freshwater areas chasing bass and jacks. If you have access to a 4WD it would be worth your time checking some of these out. Lots of very snaggy areas and fallen trees in the creek the further you travel upstream. I've enjoyed lots of fun casting small lures (hardbodies and softplastics) around these. Lots of poddy mullet upstream, which makes for good live bait on the lizards and jacks. The cast net usually gets these.
The small lake immediately west of the boat ramp (near the camping ground) has seen good catches of Jacks too. Mainly on live baits.
You can also take a quick right as soon as you turn off onto Roys Road from the highway and drive around to the southern side of Coochin Creek using the forestry roads (though not sure if this is legal?). As I've come across lots of old camp fires along the southern bank when I've been canoeing up there.
I usually put in at the boat ramp just east of the camping grounds and paddle back past the camping grounds. It's usually very quiet up this way, as there are lots of sand/gravel banks that chew-up props.
Cheers,
Gigantor

Mate, had a fantastic fish off the bank at the camping ground one morning. Went there with a heep of mates one day, and had a game of Rugby League in the creek. We played (blind drunk I might add) 6 on 6 and absolutely smashed each other. Anyhow, the next morning i walked down to the creek with red eyes and threw a line in the water. There were about dozen people fishing off the bank and everyone was getting fish. Apparently, we had stirred up the bottom so bad that fish came from every where to sus out what was going on.
My advice, get ya boatless buddies up there for a game of footy in the creek (its only about 4 foot deep most of the way near the camping ground) and fish the following morning. The injuries are worth it.
