How do you anchor to fish a wreck

Hi everyone, this is a question for those that regularly fish wrecks for the usual reef fish. How do you anchor to fish the wreck. Do you anchor directly on it with a reef pick, or do you anchor of the wreck on sand with a general purpose anchor and rely on the current/wind to position you in the best position to get your baits on the wreck. How do you do it. Cheers

The second part mate. It's a bit tricky but you need to factor in the wind/waves and current when anchoring, just like chasing trout. You also have to remember that if there's a current running, you have to factor in how far back the lines will travel from the boat before touching bottom.
Usually I like to just start to see the wreck appearing on my sounder. That way the lines will usually hit the wreck spot on. Other places however may be very deep or with strong run.
    Cheers, Mark.

How deep is the water where the wrecks are that you usually fish.

about 100 feet or thereabouts. The current is generally pretty slow when we try to fish wrecks, can't really give you a speed but the lines would hit bottom around 20 metres behind the boat or less with around a size 6 bean sinker.
    Cheers, Mark.
