    Andy,

I'm at Ashgrove too and while I don't know any near here a mate at work knows one that I am checking for some rod repairs myself. I'll let you know how I go and if he's any good I can take it for you.

    Cheers, Clutter

Do it yourself, its not to difficult. Theres plenty of sites on the web that show you how. I recently redid all the guides on one of my rods easy. Its not pretty or anything flash but the guides are straight and solid. I got my supplies from springwood marine.

I agree with Jeremy87. Replacing guides is a snap. Especially the tip top. Most likely, it's held on with common ferrel cement. Just hold a match to it until the glue inside melts and pull it off. Then melt a little cement on the clean tip and replace with your new guide. It takes about a minute and is waaaay cheaper. I hardly ever buy new rods for this reason. I usually just buy a rod blank and do all the guides myself for a sharp, custom look. Really, it's a lot easier than you'd think. Just my two cents.

Here's a site I found that goes through the whole process of building a rod start to finish. The link takes you to the page describing wrapping your own guides.

Theres a tackle store on McCulloch st at Sunnybank that does Rod repairs. Had one repaired there and was a good job and not expensive. Not sure of the name of the place, Pro Tackle or something like that.
