    Canoe & Fish - Brisbane

We have a canadian canoe - 3 seater - and have fished in a number of creeeks, rivers and bays around SE Qld and northern NSW. Our latest trip was up Pumicestone passage, Bribie Island. Any other canoe enthusiasts out there?

Yeah mate I have a 15'6" three seater canoe. I have just moved up to redcliffe from sydney and trying to find some good spot's to use SP's. I have travelled to wathumba creek on the north western tip of frazer island about 4 1/2 yr's ago. With a 3.5hp outboard it took 7hrs each way and was over 120km's round trip got some nice spotties up there around late october.

There are a few guys around that fish from SOT kayaks anywhere from the creeks to the reefs. They are talking about organising a regular monthly outing and I'm sure canoes would be more than welcome.

Some of these guys occasionally post on these forums but mostly use http://com3.runboard.com/baustraliankayakfishingforum.

    Sparksy,

Have been canoe fishing since 2001 (and now kayak) and have had great fun. Main locations for me have been Nundah Creek and Cabbage Tree Creek @ Shorncliffe (Bream & Flathead), Coochin Creek @ Beerwah (Bream, Flathead and jacks), Upper Maroochy @ Yandina (Bream, Jacks), Kedron Brook and Jacksons Creek @ Nudgee Beach, Pine River (North & South) : Bream, Flathead and catfish, Ningi Creek near Bribie (Bream, Jacks and Flathead), Wivenhoe Dam (Bass, Yellowbelly, Tilapia and Big smelly Catfish), Upper Brisbane River (near Fernvale etc) : Bass & catfish.

Can't think of a better way of fishing. No noisy outboard motors. Stealth is the way to go!

    Cheers,

    Gigantor

    Hey Sparksy,

The tides are excellent this weekend, at Golden Beach.

I am new at this kayak fishing but have hooked up a few and enjoyed the tranquility at the same time. My fishing partner is my wife and she loves it.

Should be ok for flatties. 8)
