Spiro, it disappeared around a month ago, jeffo may give you a closer date, there one day gone the next. Might of been run over by a big centre console ?

Re: fad is it still there

yep... no one knows where or how.. but its gone. no reports of it washing up on a beach any where so its any ones guess. there is 2 more to be deployed by the sunshine coast game fishing club later in the year.
just a little note that these fads are not funded by the government or council... by the club and its sponsors only. hopefully when the new ones are put out every one does the right thing. the more of a success they are the more that will be put out for every ones enjoyment.

Iv stolen it and brought it up to NQ where real fish will swim around it

Re: fad is it still there

what did this thing look like?
i seen what looked like a large buoy with an antena thing on top
and a long thing under it with a chain attachment covered in barincals
on a trailer towed by a gov.type 4x4 heading south from noosa about a month ago.

Re: fad is it still there

there was 2 NSW FAD's found washed up on the beach at DI a while ago... these are the new ones to be deployed out here. they closely match your description get wet.
the missing fad was an old wave rider bouy.

Re: fad is it still there

Jeff, that they could both wash up in the same area possibly another one confirms my idea with the currents around there.

Re: fad is it still there

I recon us Ausfish members rally together & fund a couple of our own FADS
How much could a fibreglass buoy & bit of cable cost split between a heap of people

Re: fad is it still there

    jeffo
what is the process for getting these fads put out there?
do the local fishing clubs have to get permission from waterways or some other body?

i would be happy to contribute to the construction of some if they were deployed off noosa

Re: fad is it still there

would not cost much but dont know the legal side to leaving bouys in the middle of butfuk
    champion idea though

place a few secret ones that automaticly disperse berly slowly but constantly
and know one knows its whereabouts but those that funded it

Re: fad is it still there

jase- would you have liked it if the game fishing club put them out then never told any one?? they are put out for EVERY ONES enjoyment and like i said if every one fishes there sensibly then there will end up being more
get wet- as far as i know its not to much of a big deal at all.. provided it is a suitable device to be used, in a suitable and safe spot and anchored in a suitable way. i can find out more soon if you like...

Re: fad is it still there

    thanks jeff
if you could get some more info that would be great.

also where off noosa would you put a couple of these things, what sort of depth is best
north reef 50-55m perhaps about 10-11miles from river mouth?
or would they work around sunshine reef in about 30-35m?

your from up this way arnt you jeff.

i also think these should be for every one to use (the more people burly up around a fad the more fish should be attracted)

    cheers mal
