Fishing spots @ Yamba
I'm going camping at Yamba early Janurary and obviously looking at getting out for as much fishing as possible. This will be my first time down there, so if anybody has some usefull info on where some good outside spots are, what the bar is like etc. Typical weather patterns for that time of year down there .I have also heard that the river produces some good fishing, so i would also be interested in that if the weather isn't to good. I have a 5mtr Cruise Craft so i'm not scared to go quite wide.
Thanks heaps in advance.
Kurt.

I believe woody heads is a good spot, so a mate of mine informs me, for Snapper and mackerel, real close into shore too, about 400m off the head-land.

I recon the big jews will be around the river and entrance about that time!! Maybe an early season longtail inshore. Woody head is a top jew spinning ledge and they get mackeral, tuna and even GT's at certain times from the shore so im sure you should find something with the boat. The bar does get pretty sketchy so keep an eye on the winds and tides. When you see the trawlers heading home you might spot something worth throwing a lure at not too far behind them
Goodluck its a top place to wet a line!!

If you cant get out, try the Middle Wall and Collis' Wall. Brown's Rocks also worth a shot. Be careful on the bar. Saw a couple of trawlers nearly lose it recently coming in.
Mattooty knows a fair bit about the country down there. he'll probable respond when he reads your post.
