Re: Snapper Hook Set Technique
By no means am I a snapper Guru but I use a baitrunner, light lead, whole fish or squid..let them pick it up and run with it, after 3 seconds of run I engage normal drag and wind fast...this works really well in shallow reefy areas.

Re: Snapper Hook Set Technique
I fish in gear with a floating bait and use a mitchell bait runner or abu 7000 as the drag systems on these reels r extremely smooth

baitrunner
floating pillies, lots of line out down a nice burley trail
once that line starts to run put her in gear, pull on the rod and set those hooks

vertico- I was told that the snapper will quickly grab the bait and will then keep swimming with the school eating it as it goes and thats why a baitrunner is good ???
