When I am fishing I usually anchor up on good structure, which is showing fish (usually bait fish), and fish that spot for the evening. I stay there even if I am not catching fish on the assumption that the fish will eventually find the berley trail. Other fisherman suggest I should move after 45min unless I am catching fish. What do other fishing chat members think?

i would move ounce you stopped catching fish, that is if you were catching fish otherwise after half an hour or so.

so many variables to consider here, but for me, if I am anchored on a good show/structure and it is prime feeding time and the burley has been going for a while, I would be reluctant to move. Would hate to be travelling at peak feeding time and ain't no point moving a few hundred metres away if the burley is going.

One of the better tournament bream fishos I know argues that you decide your prime spot and stay there - on the basis that fish come on the bite & go off the bite a couple times through the day. And when that happens you don't want to be travelling between spots.
For me - if 40 odd minutes of berleying isn't working then its time to move.

When I am on the beach I will jump from spot to spot if they aren't producing, 3 casts usually and I am gone.
Different in the boat fishing the bay though, depending on the area and species I will on occaisions take up position as early as 2 hours before I expect to catch fish and wait. Other times will just run drifts over likely areas and anchor if a good bite comes on. Just have to call it how you see it at the time, and back your judgement.
I'm with Jeremy - never be moving around in peak bite times, and if you don't have a good plan B then stick to plan A.
Generally though, 45 minutes drifting in an area without bites is time for me to start thinking about Plan B. If I am anchored and burleying, I would generally give a couple of hours to make sure I had persisted through a bite period. It usually pays off.

I always dart around different spots think like the fish be the fish catch the fish! HAHAHAHAHA nah seriously i stay 30minutes or so if i am having no joy at all and no activity on the sounder i am off!

I will fish for 10 hours in one spot ( a spot i know produces good fish ) and during that time the fish will come and go, just be ready when they do. I find that the diferent types of fish come on the chew in a regular pattern, usually small to large. and where does this happen thats the problem. I fish the reefs off the Gold Coast and I have found several good spots. Best tip I can give, keep a log.

Depends what your fishing 4. Snapper i will burley up 4 a couple of hours especially if u r in a proven spot and the conditions r favouable and wait 9 out of 10 times you should get some quality fish. cheers mal
on the beach if i dont get a fish within half a dozen cast im onto the next drain. got find where there holding
If there is no bait schools around .....i would move after half a dozen casts if no strikes ...regardless of the structure ( unless you fishing a location that fishg PASS through like channels running out the bar for Jew etc etc and not expecting bait schools to be there .)
If you find good structure AND Bait ....i would stick with it . The odds are where there is bait fish , there is predators ....just need to wait for em to get hungry again !
reef, creek,bank and location all require different strategies just keep tryin till you figuire out what works for you were ever you are
