    Floster rigs?

Can some one please explain and if possible show a pic of a floater rig because my dad don't quite understand the concept I keep telling him that the rig is as follows:
First you connect a swivel to you main line then to that you connect 1meter of say 60-80lb mono and then you slide a small pea sinker on to it followed by a set of say 3/0-6/0 ganged hooks or a 4/0-6/0 single hook then pop it down the burley trail and feed out the line and wait.

Is this right if no can you please correct it or Wright up the rig you use and once again a photo of it will be much appreciated.

Also does any one use floaters in 90 meters of water?

Got the right idea. We can change sinker weights a heap of times to get the sink rate right, and have a few outfits out with different weights until one finds the fish. Baitrunners are good in up to 65 odd meters. When in deeper water we use tld outfits with braid. We have a trace of 60-80lb mono and a sinker right on the ganged 5/0's. Let it freespool until amongst the shows of fish on the sounder, then thumb it slowly to the bottom. When you hit the bottom crank it back up into the show of fish and repeat until you get smashed. Gets alot better quality fish by keeping your baits off the bottom a bit. Hope this helps. Tony.

    Re: Floster rigs?

Can you tie a double uni as a minimum or better still a double of some description (plait or bimini) and a ducknose? I use a double uni from a bimini double to the leader. My mates all use ducknoses. A double uni is fine to start with just braid to leader if you have enough twists in the braid. I always use a leader with braid. I asked if you were using mono as from about 8kg line class up depending what is around you won't always need a leader.

Simplest rig is just a hook on the end of leader depending on depth and current and if you are anchored or not. Leader around 60lb and a rod length will be best. Next step up is what I would call a Bream rig. Sinker straight on top of hooks. Hooks can be single, snooded or ganged. Then there is what I would call a Whiting rig, hook to swivel with a sinker sitting on the swivel. Leader length has no rules from hook to swivel. Sometimes you cast up current and other times as far as you can downcurrent and other times you just drop it under the boat and let it waft down with the berley. Experiment. These are the basics. Get out there and give it a try. Bottom bouncing rigs still have their place so keep trying both. You can' berley too much either. Sharks can be a problem in some places but you might just have to put up with them.

    Disagree perko

i run braid on both my bait runners now and have fished them
    very successfully to 130 meters.

i used to have mono on one and braid on the other and use the mono in shallow water and the braid in deep water but after many many fishing trips the catch rates in shallow water between the mono baitrunner and fishing with the braid baitrunner were very similar the big differance was that the mono used to get a little bit of line twist so i changed it to braid as well. I know most shallow water float baiters like mono but in a direct comparision i found the catch rates were similar.

Ps. I do much prefer to fight a fish with mono, the shock absorbing effect gives you real confidence that the fish will not bust off.
Alcohol doesn't agree with me, but i sure do enjoy the argument!!!
