So... I have a float on my mainline going down to a swivel? or a running sinker on top of swivel? and then a leader of what sort of line strength down to the hook
What sort of depth under the float do you have the hook?
How big is the bit of bread on the hook?
I ask all this because i have fished for mullet with no luck
you have a float on the main line going down to a swivel which then goes down to the 2 or 1 hooks how ever many u so desire, i was using a leader of 20lb line as it was the only leader i had. mullet having virtually no teeth if any are not likely to bite the line off. so a leader is not really required to be 2 large.
the depth under the float faries on what lvl the fish are feeding. to start of with try about 50cm.
the bread i was using was just large enough to complete cover the entire hook.
Caught what we called a pink eye at a weir up the Albert river years ago. Daylight they used to swim up & just hang at the weir, christal clear water. Hand line with small hook jigged on weir to get some weed to hang off it then let it float down past nose of fish and bang. Took it straight away. My first sight fishing.
It's called Jagging. Get 3 or 4 8/0 hooks and weld them into a big treble or configoration resembling a reef pick. connect it to 30lb line on a hand line, and find yourself schooling mullet in winter. Thow out and retreive - no bait needed.
Special tip - don't let anyone find you with it (or the crab hook either)
