when do jack come on the bite

havent been fishing for too long and just like to know when exactly mangrove jack will come back on the bite

Have only caught one but the experts say they're apprently on around chrissy.

As soon as summer starts mate (oct-apr), or any other hot spell during the year. For instance, you can catch them in the middle of winter on a moderately warm night. Just pick the right tide and fish the full moon, and a hot night, live bait and ya cant go wrong

5 weeks ago we got a few, around 14 or 15 with a couple of em good legals.

Went weekend of the 20th and ended up with only one between a couple of boats. I have been getting em all through winter, just gotta persist. Admittedly last trip had a bloody lot of flow so this may have put em off. If you are serious about chasing em I would be starting very shortly if not now!

Kingo and I are doing an exploratory run tommorrow, Jacks and xos flathead are on the menu!!!

Realistically, they are a bit slow in winter, but still not impossible to catch, start of september usually signals a start to the "better " time of year.

They better watch their asses tommorow though!

Tony - When you fish for jacks do you have a line set with a live mullet swimming around while you flick lures?

i for one would not want to leave a livie out whilst flicking, beacuse when a jack strikes itll propbly take the rod into the drink

if your hot as and can not get shut eye then get the fishing rod out and hit them it will not be long now about mid to late september the hoter the night the better

between now and october usually starts the purple gems. if youre gonna have a livie out whilst flicken have your drag on real loose, or you'll lose the lot!. listen to what's said above, they know best of all. and remember, location is the most important! can be the muggiest night ever but no jack if the location is off! good luck, we're all gonna need it!
