The jetty does pretty good in the mornings. The bridge across the Annan river just south of Cooktown and tracks down both sides leading to various spots.Good luck.
Try Archer Point, just south of Cooktown, it's a old beef terminal, with a rusty old jetty. Not a bad spot at all. [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

I gotta agree with Razorline... I fished one morning at Archer Point (what a beautiful spot!) while my wife was boiling the billy behind the vehicle I hooked up on something quite big. I was casting a raider over the reef. I had time to yell for her to come and have a look as it peeled 30lb braid off my TSS4 like a freight train. She got all the way down to me, stood there for for a sec and exclaimed "he's headed for Cairns!" and then I calculate he popped off the edge of the fringing reef and "dink" - broke the line as he dived on the edge.
A very exciting 30 seconds!
Whatever it was erupted in a big splash as it hit my lure about 15m in front of me.
If you go just be careful climbing on the old jetty there, it's falling apart.
