Where is the best / cheapest place in Brisbane to buy rod building supplies, guides, thread, epoxy etc

There is nowhere cheap in Brisbane. Budds at Cleveland have some cheap blanks but the rest of the gear is pricey. Mail Order is the best option. RBS have some gear but the choices are restricted. Mudhole in the US have the best range and prices are good but getting the equipment into the country will double the US price once you have it at the doorstep (especially if sent Fedex).

Building rods is not cheap, good quality components cost money. If you want to find out where to get components you really need to know what you want. There are certain ways to make the exercise less costly. I have found most tackle shops charge around the same, go in talk to them ans see if you can get hold of the catalogues. Otherwise give Gary Howard a ring @ Australian Rod Maufacturers and ask him where you can get his gear ie what shops stock his brands.
