    tangalooma fishing advice

I was just after some advice about fishing Tangalooma. Scott (scott15) a mate brad and I will be camping and fishing there for a week in the school holidays. We will be fishing from a 4.8-meter scone and will have a 3.5 hp tohatsu on the back. Any help will be great.

    Cheers Michael

I'll be there from the 26th november to the 3rd december and the 10th december to the 17th. I'd recommend softies or hardiheads along the western beach at the moment. When I was there last year we were getting some nice flathead out from that area, and the report from Brownies is that they are still getting them from Cravens Creek right down to the wrecks. The only other places I'd reccommend would be the jetty at night for sharks or Shovels and taking some worms to the sandhills just south of the jetty for some whiting. Let me know if you're going to be there at the same time as me, as it's always good to have a few fishing buddies.

    Hi Chemmy,
I was at Ben-Ewa just above the wrecks 3 weeks ago and caught and released heaps of big flatties, some breaking me off (6lb line) that were 90cm+.It was a real buzz as I was sight fishing for them using sp's and saw at least 35 in a 50 yard stretch (nothing under 50cm). However on the last day nothing I threw at them could interest a single one. Very frustrating!!! There was plenty of bait there then, mainly hardiheads and herrings,if you want to take a cast net and use live bait.

I was told that jigging sp's off the jetty there also produces some good size trevors so hope that helps. Drop us a post to let us all know how you went. I did up a fishing report when I got back from Moreton but accidently hit a wrong button and lost it all and didn't bother following it up as too much time had passed.

    Hi Chemmy,
It's maybe a k north of the wrecks. It's a designated camping spot set back 50m or so from the beach and has showers(cold) and toilets.

That's good to hear Knackers, there were some bigger specimens around that shed for the MB fishing club between the wrecks and the resort last year, but I don't think any of them got that close to the magic metre. My casting arm is twitching already!

chuck a live hardy head of the end of tangalooma jetty on Dusk and you'll hook a nice trevally or two, or three or four.

I've seen some decent cobia at the end of the Tangalooma jetty, waiting for some schools of poddy mullet to go past. That was some time ago though.

Problem with the Jetty is that you have to be a guest at the resort, after ~6pm
