Hey guys, just wondering who here has had success using wolf herring as a troll bait for spaniards. I am interested to know how they are best rigged up. I was once told you need to put a chinguard under the wolfie's mouth? are there any special ways of hooking them up?
hi dan,
they are a gun spaniard bait. i used to rig them on a "wog head" you will have them in the tackle shops up north, never seen them down this way. can post a pic if you want. sort of like a chin guard, but the wolfie sits in the lead head.
cheers

Dan-as dazza said, without doubt the number one north queensland spaniard bait. Its best rigged with a wieght like a wog head and used in conjunction with a down rigger. The accual rigging verries between fisherman with many closely guarding there method. The simple off the shelf rigs available in alot of your northern tackle shops work fine, you may need to add extra hooks though. Well worth the effort to use as bait, good luck...foxy
