Im heading down to the GC on sat for a weeks holidays and was wondering if anyone has any infomation about the Broardwater ferry. Does he work to a timetable, or can you just call him up, does it run through the week. thinking of heading over to wavebreak and throwing a few sp's. any help would be great. thanks minimunchips
Im pretty sure hes in the yellow pages. If not, give Runaway BAy marina a call, theyd have his number. Has a regular timetable to Couran Cove and Tipplers, but does spec jobs to anywhere on call as well.
If you only want to go to wavebreak, and you do it a few times, you could invest in a kayak.
Runaway Bay Marina is the go.
There is a water taxi (Gold Coast Water Taxi) ....in white/yellow pages.....will take you anywhere (and pick you up) anytime you want. I havent used the guy for about 12 months (I think he actually totalled his boat in an accident a while ago but should be up and going again) so check first. He can give you a quote over the phone.
If not, there is a ferry to Couran Cove resort and another one to Couran Point...both from that marina.
Jason (Spike) used to run the B'water ferry but not sure if they are even operating now.
Plus there are plenty of places to hire a tinny for Wave Break. Might even be the best option.
Good point woof, hire a tinny. I used to hire one from Nev Howards Bait and Tackle, as he was the closest, at MArine pde Southport. They are also in the phone book, and open for hire at 6am.
The water taxis are not cheap. Id hire a tinny. The best fish are just off the Nth point of Wavebreak and just outa casting distance....
thanks for the info guys, last time i was down camping at broard water tourist park i droped into nevs but i think the guy that hires the tinnies went bust. From memory that is. how far is runaway bay marina (Tinnie Time) to wave break?? they'd hire tinnies there wouldnt they?
Im pretty sure the guy at Nevs is still there hiring tinnies.I think I paid $45 for a half day last year. Runaway Bay do not hire tinnies, but your next shot is Marina Mirage for a half cabin, but they cost a bit more. Paradise Pt marina have tinnies and they are good value, but a bit far to Wavebreak Is - 1 hour. Lotsa good areas around P Pt tho, I fish there a lot. Try around Soveriegn Islands or Jabiru Is if you get there.
Wavebreak Is or the Seaway is the go tho. Big fish in the Seaway.
Ferry runs from Doug Jenkins park on the Broardwater side of the spit.
Another bloke runs from the seaway in a rubber duck taking surfers over to straddie and will drop fishos as well
Alternatley start at the boat ramps next to Nara resort and work your way around the marine staduim to the broardwater and back. Just as much ground to explore as wavebreak. No need for ferry or boat hire so the money saved could be spent on liquid refreshments!
