Heading to kingfisher Bay in a fortnight for a weekends relaxation. Managed to convince "the minister for war and finance" that the rods should be taken along, just in case .......Have never fished there, what would I expect to find, and what gear will I need??? Are livies readily jigged from the pier?? Any information would be appreciated.
have a look under 'some pics of cod' under the sw photos section, i think most of the info is in there, if you want to know more, send me a pm. but definately take as much heavier gear as u can.
mate if you have a tss4 or similar should be sufficient. you'll get trevally, cod, jew, mac tuna, school mackeral, odd jew, flathead, bream whiting. you should be able to jig livies, the best spot i have found is where the barge lands they see to school up the most there. this is truly the best jetty to fish on i like it more than the pier at hervey bay.
definately take the gear, i have spun up a few school mackeral on slugs
kleiny
everything can be caught off that jetty, take plenty of slugs stacks of GT's. we got most of our GT's casting either end of the wave break and cranking the lure back in. had some hit it right at your feet. early morning and later arvo are the best times we found. Also some snodger tailor aswell.
mate my parents own 2 villas there so i get up there alot all u need to take is a 3kg spin stick and 6-8kg spin stick if u are only fishin off the jetty thats about it and lots of slugs, u will get bucket loads of trevally and mackerel up there at the moment in fact i leave 4 there on sat for a week or so might see ya there by the way if u want to get slamed by big goldens cast right under the northern end of the wave break it wont even get to the bottom enjoy
