Nightlighting for squid - whats the best way

Having used many different lights for catching squid at night, I'm keen to hear from others their opinions on how to do this.

With LED's flooding the market, I'm very keen to find a waterproof one because I reckon the light output from those is just right. Also the possibility of having one waterproof means less hassles.

Since barra are now off the agenda, I guess it's time to start thinking of other yummy brutes like fingermark, for example.

    Interested to hear from others...

When i was a little younger, we used to grab a gas bottle with a burner attachment on the top add some alfoil to reflect the light down towards the water, and lower it off sangate jetty on a rope and dangle it about 1m off the water. We more regularly went home with large catches then other fishos on the jetty.

Go to your local dive store and pick up a cheap halogen dive torch. I picked mine up for 24 dollars. Although one or two bulbs have gone, it has been the best torch for over 4 years both in and out of the water. You'll want something heavy underneath it to keep it suspended in the water column. Works a treat for prawns as well as squid, if your in the right place. Good battery life too, when using energizers.
