    Burley off shore

Is a burley bucket attached to the transom effective when burleying off shore in 12 - 18 fathoms - mostly bottom bashing......

Any tips on whats best to use, ie-- pillies

Providing the current isn't to strong it can be quite effective for bottom bashing in that depth, but comes into it's own if used in conjunction with a couple of floaters,I just feed all my old bait through it.

Drill some bigger holes in it and freeze blocks of minced and diced burley mixed with sand and no worries .

    Re: Burley off shore

I have made a Burley Bomb up for this sort of stuff, I have found that it works great.

Basicly it's made out of 100mm pvc pipe with alot of 12mm holes drilled in it to let the burley flow out etc. The bottom has got a cap on it and a screw top lid with a hole drilled in the middle to attach rope through.

I normally let it go down with a few snappa sinkers in the bottom to three quarters of the water depth, the rocking of the boat keeps the water moving through it and dispersing the burley.

Alot of the fish i catch have my burley in their guts, so it must work ok.

You can also buy a berley bomb that you sink to the bottom under the boat, give it a good tug, and it releases the berley right where you are bottom bashing. You just reel the empty container up for next time. We have had some success using one bottom bashing.

when I had my boat to go outside what used to do was use an old plastic tub with a lid on it with holes ect... I tied it to the anchor rope so that way the burley was down where I was fishing.... always worked [smiley=2thumbsup.gif] for me
Rainbow Trout is NOT skittle flavoured fish.........

I tie it to the anchor rope. The recipe, I put all my old bait through a old sinkerator mounted under an old sink on a stand. Prawns, fish heads, crab shell, anything mixed with chook pellets and tuna oil and into a big bucket in the bait freezer. It never empties and I just keep topping it up with old bait and backbonesetc minced up
    Cheers
