Well done young jedi, the patience has paid off.
I recently bough myslef a spinning setup, got some softbaits (few different types) and hit the water... with no luck 4 times fishing for a bout 2 hours each time, first time i have used plastics, not a huge fan yet as I had no hits or anything, not to say i was doing it right.
I finally got sick of this and went and bough some trusty old lures, bought 2 a bit larger then the bass minow lures i have bought before.
went to the water at 7:00 first cast flat head followed it to my feet, second cast got the fish...
42cm flathead.
the only fish we caught that night but i was stoked, keen to get there again now and try my luck.
Has anyone got some tips on what time of an afternoon or night i should fish and also any hints with the type of fishing spots soft plastics should be used at (sandy botton, rocks)
Thanks guys I am just getting into coastal fishing any tips are appreciated.

PM me and I'll tell you about a little spot that was about 50m from where I lived down on the Gold Coast.
Best if you've got a tinnie, but also some good LBF spots.

Owen maybe I could PM u also
Need to get 10 posts before i can PM :|
Around the islands in the logan is a great spot for plastics and flathead .
Try around the points of the islands and along the banks on the turn of the tide , just drift with a slow jig action ...plenty of big lizards around there

P.S.
If you run into a mean looking bald guy with tats and earings named Irwin, say g'day for me.
He was my neighbour.
You won't meet a nicer guy.
