have I been looking in the wrong place? Last time I called in there for fuel I took a look at the ramp. There only appeared to be only one and that was a single with a bloody big queue? Have they upgraded or is there another ramp in the marina?
cheers

Kev..there is a 4 lane ramp...pontoon in the middle of them and then over to the side is the courtesy wharf...as you drive in through the main entry..turn left following the fence where the trailer storage is and you will see the boom gate straight ahead.
Cheers mate. I'll have a look next time I'm down there.........beats getting stomped by a donkey

LOL. Yes, my young bloke has been chased by it.
Kev, even though it is glass, you can still put it up on sand. I even pull up on that gravel at the big ramp at Shorencliffe and do not scratch it. Just wash all your speed off so it is a very gentle touch. At shorencliffe I usually head at a 45 degree angle comong in and (going very slow) kill the engine a couple of metres out and slide over the side and fend off before I touch land. Not sure if it explained well, but works well in practice. But then if I have a reliable deckie, I go straight in and they can get off an fend off.
Jeremy, I think we have identical top 3. I almost never flush at home.
Just a thought,,, I was at a park the other day close to home and noticed a tap. So who said you have to flush at the ramp. Just do a little reconasance and you may find a tucked away spot close to the ramp and away from houses. This is important to me because I do a lot of mid week trips and get home late, and then have to get up for work so cannot do the flushing in the morning.

Hi Cheech, Yeah mate, I know that ramp well and it isn't so much the scratching that worries me because the boat has a brass strip running the length of the keel. Besides, if you were to worry *that* much about it's "welfare" you'd never have time to actually enjoy boating
The problem I have is actually getting the kids into the boat. She's too high in the sides and I can't swing her round to the back ladder because of the stern drive. I thought about a rope ladder at the bow and coming bow in to pick them up, but then I'd have 5 pair of muddy/gravelly feet crawling along her to get to the cockpit.
If I'm going on an overnighter I'll use Shorncliffe 'cause there'd only be me and josh/Kingcobe and we would be in the boat when the deckie launches us and takes the trailer home. Any other time, with the whole family, Nudgee is only 5 or 10 more minutes away. The bugger of that is the bloody traffic between 5 and 6pm when we'd be coming back
cheers

Kev jsut a little not mate watch the pontoon at the Grand. It's not very forgiving to Decals etc. much sure the new Baby is fendered well of the that the deckies can hold her off.
Back to the topic, i like ramps as close to fishing grounds as possible. Here on the goldie don't know of any ramps that have wash down. Even if they did not to sure if they be turned on with the water restriction.
When finished i go to one of the car washes on the way home. Then let the neighbors know i'm back when i get home.
Love the ramp at Moolooabah VMR usually drive the boat off then on, pick up the deckie from the pontoon. Then can wash it all down when we get back. Good stuff that.

It's FULLY SIC man
Great minds think alike! Yes, I have done some recce myself and have flushed in an industrial complex late at night a couple of times now. I even have an 'adaptor' to fit those pesky council taps with the different diameter.Originally Posted by Cheech

I nominated "other", I will drive a bit further to avoid the jet ski trauma when you gat back to the ramp.
If i am going to be back by about 8.00 the I use the 4 lane ramp behind the pool at Southport but if I won't be back till 10 or later then I use the ramp at Loders creek that has rock both sides and a 6knot speed limit and does not attract the jet ski/fashion parade/###### crowd
If we go out for the day Jacobs Well is great. The only problem is it gets very busy on the weekend.
Cabbage Tree is also very nice.
If we are staying out I like Horizon Shore mainly because of the secure car park.
I like to use southport as I normally have to pull the boat in or out by myself.
(it sleeps down the coast). So I find it really easy as I just have a look at what the tide/current is doing then use the side of the pontoon that the current will push the boat back against the pontoon. This way it jsut takes all the headache of trying to keep the boat straight.
If not there anywhere it is a lil portected as my mates that I go with
just have not got the time up yet to know what to do when.
I saw that last time I was there, I was thinking it was just a matter of bringing your own tap handle or have they removed the whole thing now?Originally Posted by SeaHunt
I good 35 degree angle and nice and deep that what makes a good ramp otherwise I cant put in
