Downrigger Novice
I am a southern lad now living in the Innisfail area, when I go out for a fish I see heaps of big spaniards being caught but not by me. I have sussed out that I need to get my lures down deep, so of I went and brought downrigger. I was after some advise on how best to set this up. The area I fish for the mackeral is about 20-25 meters deep. below is some questions.
1. How much line should I put out from the spring clip;
2. Does the spring clip go onto the weight or is it connected by a line;
Cheers if you can help.

Re: Downrigger Novice
Hi, Check out the drawing Attachment I found it but cannot remember where. I am using it as described and it works ok. Instead of a release clip use a normal rubber band attached to your line and then attached to the bomb...works better than a clip and is inexpensive. Troll dead slow. Try d'rigging 10m deep around Olive Rock and also wide of the Island. A chin rigged wolfie or a gar is ideal but i must stress dead slow. cheers baldy

Re: Downrigger Novice
Mate cheers for that its what I was after, one more question, how much line would you normally run from the lure/trolled bait to the release clip. I was thinking about 30 meters is this to little or to much?
Cheers for the info
