Best thing to do is hook up with Narooma Charters, top outfit!!
Caught a heap of Yellowfin Tuna on a charter with them out at the shelf.

    Hi Argle,
Plan to take down my own boat ( 4.55 Allycraft TANK with a 50hp Merc on the back) Fitted a Humminbird 37x with GPS. Not a biggie but hopefully large enough to get me out to montague for a bit of serious fishing. If all else fails then we go for the charter!!!!!!!!................................... ......Macka

    Guys

Th eentry to Bermi is heaps easier than that bar at Narooma, have seen a few big green water ones jack up in near glass outs. Be careful!

apart form that its a great time to be in that neck of teh woods, if a bit busy.

Give Darren at The Ocean Hut bermi a call and he can give you all teh good oil, or Daryl at Ocean Hut Narooma.

    Good luck.

    Gidday Macka.

I use to live at Narooma, had an Oyster farm there, owned the shed next to the bridge. Be very weary of that deadly Narooma Bar, it's claimed many lives. Try and follow someone else out thats afetr you have studied it for 30 mins, the waves come in sets of 7 but that may of changed since I was there. If your not confident and value your life head down to Bermagui and then upto Montague, we use to get live bait near the rocks infront of the Narooma Golf Club.

As for spots to fish, anywhere around the Island was always good. Try some jigging and hang on when a Kingie hits it.

If you want to take someone who knows what their doing, a mate of mine does guiding down there, contact him Jack Dart on 0413039800, I am not sure what he charges but at least you will get some fish.

If it's a little rough to go outside, there is some brilliant fishing for Australian Salmon, tailor and bonito from the breakwall at the front of the Bermi harbour. 50g raiders are the go. Ocean Hut Narooma (Daryl) is the man for the lowdown on everthing that happens on that coast.

    Have fun

what a great place to go. i havent been there for years but bermi is easier launch but takes longer to get to mont island. I believe the shelf is the closest to the mainland of anywhere in australia. dont quote me on that.if the weathers bad and cant get out far and you want a feed of flathead. drift along the beach thats on your left once you leave bermi harbour. never seen other people there and use to get loads of flatties along there
best was around 20-24 ft of water.

    Thanks Guys,
We might give Narooma bar a miss and go straight to Bermi, may be a lot safer. I will definitely speak with Daryl at Ocean hut for the best advise on where to go and what to do.Jim Dart is also an option.............Cheers...................Macka
