Dude, that is a Scarey Photo!!
WOW that look like a 30kg plus what a fight .... have you weight it yet
Not me Rob. I've had 'em that big and wouldn't even consider fetchin' 'em ashore....that's if I could boat 'em.
And Grant's says they only go to 6 foot! I'm grateful for the pic though because a couple of "long in the tooth" fishos looked at me like I was bullshittin' when I told 'em how big they actually grew. The biggest I've ever seen came from only 3 foot of water at the Pin.

I saw one out in front of the big sand hills at Moreton in about 3 metres of water that I called as a very conservative 10ft long, haven't seen one even close to that since then. That was late 70's early 80's and it was free swimming not on the end of the line luckily for my back.
That one is a big sucker I'm guessing he would have put a bit of hurt on you before you landed him. I tried a little one years ago and thought it was mushy #$%# so hopefully the big ones taste a lot better.
Mate, well done that thing is massive. Have caught em myself a lot in the passage only about 3 foot long on 10lb, great fight. Cant imagine what that would have done to ya !
Cheers Joel
great big shovelly mate. where and what you get him on?
cheers,
cuzza
Some family freinds of mine who spent every minute they could on their moreton bay cruiser poking round the bay reckon theres a dirty big shovely hanging around horseshoe bay at peel island that goes the 10 foot pretty easy.
what do you do with something that big?
how do they taste?
i'v heard the little ones taste pretty good and do well for flake but i would of thought one that big would be pretty strong
15 years ago caught one at the cowan artificial at moreton on 100lb handline on whole sandcrab meant for cod. it was 12 feet long and 4 feet across, same size as our tinny. towed us out about 3km by the time we got it up.. awsome site, when we cut the line it just slowly swam of as if it didn't know it was hooked.
Pete
how did you get it home? That's the biggest I've seen caught.
didn't know they ate sandcrabs for dinner
