Tin Can Bay - InSkip Areas

    G'day All,

We will be staying at Carlo Point (Near Rainbow Bch) for a couple of weeks in Jan and I thought I would see if anyone can recommend any decent fishing spots in the areas of Tin Can Bay, Carlo Point, Inskip and I guess half way up to Kingfisher Bay I suppose - or even outside.

We have a boat so we can get to all of these areas, so if anyone would like to share any of their secrets with me- for the sake of a first-timer going up there - #it would be greatly appreciated.

    Merry X-mas to all

Believe it or not the area around that marker is actually called "Big Mick". Its the green beacon off the end of the flats before you head down to Kaurie Creek or up the Straits.

    Hey Mad Mic
I have a house up at TCB. I try to get up there as much as possible. I don't fish the inside very much except for mud crabbing. If you are going to lay some pots go up the end of the creeks (teebah is OK - and the little one just north that is high water only) and tie them - there are plenty of people up there at this time of year thet love to check pots.

If you can get outside you put yourself in a great position. The trouble you will have at this time of year is current. do what you can to combat it. I would not be suprised if there are plenty of Macks around - best on live bait. Get lots of livies off the wreck which is just NE of the bar. This is well known, on the map - just go to where all the boats are.

If the current is going to let you, go wide and north. Watch your sounder all the time - when it lights up you go down. We have had some great catchs withing 60km of the bar.

If you do go wide make sure you check the current as you go because it does change you do not want to wast you time and fuel - when it is running you have no chance.
