    G'day
Well... how far south do you want to go and what target species? Manly and lota will see you with the general estuary species, as will the sand bar from wellington point out to king island. Head further south and you have a maze of canals at raby bay... some of it accessible by land. Further down the road is cleveland point with reef around it but my pick would to go down into victoria point/redland bay area and even catch the bay barges out to russel, karragarra, lamb, coochie and macley for reef and estuary fishing. If you really want to get serious... get the ferry from cleveland out to north straddie and have fun on the beaches.

    Hi revs57...
Thanks for asking this Q?...I did similar a wjile back but must have worded it wrong as you have elicited just the responce I was after.
For that responce Dave. .thanks for me anyhow. I was going to give Vic Pt and around Pt Halloran a go and see twhat I came up with.
What is the best phase of the tide to walk and fish, particularly S/Ps??

    Cheers,

    G'day
In response to your question chris...... I'd suggest starting out the front of orana esp. at pt. halloran. You will see blokes periodically fishing all techniques and it's a very gentle sloping area with the usual sand/mud to weed bottoms, and the odd bit of gravel in some areas. Plenty of moored boats in the area to provide structure and i'd imagine any run of the tide would be good. Personally i'd prefer first light and just after dawn and the same in the evenings. Anything from good flathead, bream and gar with whiting thrown in aswell would be the usual catches. Have a good one and let us all know how u go via the reports section.

    Thanks Dave.
I will definatly give Pt H a go and let you all know how I do. It has been a while since I have had a good fishy brag so I look forward to doing so. It's going to be a little more difficult now with the kids going back to school, I'll have to work it around their school and Sue's work but I will get time I am sure. Determination will endure.

    Thanks for the info Dave,

I'll let him knom, he's a refugee kid from Iraq that comes into our community centre. He got real excited when I showed him some of the fishy photos and reports posted on ausfish...tried to register him but seems there is a bug in the system that wouldn't let him log on.

    thanks again

Re: Land Based Fishing Brisvegus South Side

hi guys this my first post on Ausfish as we only just got our internet connected. I have lived in the Cleveland / Victoria Pt area for a while and most of my fishing is land-based with soft plastic lures. You might want to try Eprapah Creek as i have had success with bream to 35cm the by casting up under the mangroves that line the shore and over hang the water. Also Pt Halloran at high tide us usually a sure thing for a few bream and flathead but sunrise high tide seems to be better. Another spot is Raby bay that can be hot or cold but just this week i got a 47cm golden trevally there after casting at a large boil in the water beside a pontoon. I also nailed my first bream on a popper at the mouth of raby bay on the ormiston side about 2 weeks ago he was only 25 cm but still very exciting to see them hit a popper. we have also caught a few tailor and queeines from the mouth in years gone past.
hope this helps , good luck!

    Hey lanks.
That's great news mate. I am after that sort of info too.
We should hook up one morning and have a fish! I'd like to try some of my new S/P's out. I am thingking of having a bash Aussie Day early am. Thursday morning high tide is 6.55am? Sounds ideal for a chuck around.
I'll be definatly going somewhere down there, probably Pt Halloran! I'l post more in the 'going fishing' forum when I get a better idea of if I go.
    Chris.
