Re: Rec Funded Fads
Ahh squidgee now where opening up a can of worms. Is it the pyed oyster catchers fault? Or the fisherfolks own apathy that leads to limited beach access. I dont want to loose access to the beach any more than most of the other rec fishos including yourself, I love taking my kids up the beach for a fish, watch the birds, swim etc.
I put this point up for discussion, it wasnt long ago that the mullet shoot at Ballina was closed. The pros rallied and argued that the mullet run was seasonal and if they weren't netted at Ballina they would surely be taken further up the coast. This seemed to fall on deaf ears and correct me if I'm wrong but it wasn't until the co-op offered to donate 10 cents per kg of mullet taken to River rehabilitation that some beurocrat stuck his head up and said that sounds great OK lets reopen the mullet shoot.
Guess what I'm saying is, and this subject has been touched on several times on this site, is that as a body of people rec fisher numbers are vast but the voice we seem to carry is largely unheard. Or maybe our rec fisher licence fees are being directed to the wrong places, maybe we need to grease a few more pockets. I know it shouldnt be that way but I'm quickly learning money talks, and back scratching goes a long way!

Re: Rec Funded Fads
yeh right these pro's should learn some manners. and patients.. i'm new to the boating thing and we had a lil trouble getting the boat back on the trailer the other day and this bloke was quite rude..... patients is the key i believe and for them towing the fad and being dickheads bout there marks..... pretty sure the ocean is for everyone and they have no right...... if a pro threatened to damage my boat i'd tell him where he can stick it and if he ctually did damage my boat i'm sure there would be a court case which i would win. Any pro who thinks they have some kinda right over us rec fisherman can go jump off a cliff as far as i'm concerned.

Re: Rec Funded Fads
A certain cod fishing pro out of Ballina had no problems pinging us on radar then bombing our our marks, just cos we get a few when we venture out there, they think they own the fish.
We only ever take a couple each, but now after he has caned it, we are struggling to get 1.
Bet it would be different if we went around putting squares on their marks.
Ok, not all the pros are bad either, some can even be helpfull.
Its just sad that $ get in the way & turn people into d#@$%eads.
