upper coomera river fishing
gday all,has any1 fished up the end of the coomera where the fresh water lake runs into the coomera theres concrete slabs and rubble sticking out of the water there which i think would make a great little hideaway for jacks and others and maybe fresh water ell could run over the cause way there which i reckon even the bullies might enjoy a munch on but not sure if all that fresh could be for the good or bad but i will be giving that spot ago over the week end

Re: upper coomera river fishing
Ive been there a few times this summer. All Ive been getting is catfish, grrrr. Its too fresh and can be muddy for a week after the rain. I got a pike there before xmas. You can get bass occaisionally.
If you want a jack or bully, you should be on the pontoon at Coomera Shores boat ramp next to Colemans park. Its much better there. Checkout the thread in the 'goin fishing' section a few weeks ago on 'coomera river'.

Re: upper coomera river fishing
I thought you said you were on the pontoon by the M1, which is rather slow for fishing.
I reckon the mid river around Sanc Cove is better than both these spots because of all the rockwalls. Now the sunken boat comment makes sense. Its a bit out of cast range from the pontoon tho isnt it? I managed to ding my prop on it last season, after ignoring the warning sign, duh.

Re: upper coomera river fishing
1. footbridge/jetty under the M1 bridge. Park just past Coomera police station and walk underneath hwy.
2. Jetty on Boykambil Esp, Hope Is is OK.
3.Nth end of Jabiru Is has a good rockwall. Park by the toilet block, walk under the bridge, and follow the timber boardwalk for about 200yrds. Deep dropoff, but plenty off current. Try for top of tide.
4. Paradise Pt boat hbr has a good rockwall by the park.
That should keep you busy for a while, and away from my secret spots ;-)
I still reckon where you were is the best spot.

Re: upper coomera river fishing
Sunrise at the lakes there is a lot of surface activity, suggesting some good fishing, my sounder shows some large fish, and some schools. the only reason i didnt fish there is i was on way to a secret location that had much MUCH more to offer than Dewfish, Mangrove Jacks, cod, and bass.
ive heard its better on the other side of that causeway, good luck
ps, the sunken boat was retrieved yesterday, say goodbye to the "Mangrove Jack Hotel"
i was there as the original owners were discussing ownership rights with the fellows who had retrieved it under some maritime law.
for anyone who is regular there, if you saw the trailer sitting in the Koala Town car park (the cul-d-sac) it is no longer there, it belonged to the sunken boat, i feel "kinda" sorry for the guys, the trailer was stolen, so now they have NO boat, and NO trailer to put it on
