Re: Rain
Hi Dobie65,
In my view, rain can be good and bad depending on where you're fishing & how much fresh you're talking about.
Saltwater fish obviously like the high salt content. A heap of freshwater in the rivers seems to push fish down toward the salty stuff, so if you're fishing in the upper reaches of rivers, besides making the water go brown, you'll likely find that the high fresh content will see that you don't have much luck. If you head down towards the mouth of the river or broadwater type areas, or even just outside the mouth if you can get access, you'll probably have a lot more luck, especially if you fish the colour line between the fresh (dirty water) & coming out & the salt (clean) going in.
On the other hand, a good dump of fresh seems seems to stir up the ol 'dibndabs' (crabs) out of their holes & into the more accessible parts of the waterways, again chasing the salt water. This can be a bumper opportunity to drop a few pots.
So its really about thinking about the affect the fresh will have on your own waterways & adapting your fishing techniques & spots to suit.
Cozzie.
