    Help Surface Fishing for Bream

    Hey guys,
I've put a fair bit of time casting little poppers around jetties around noosa and the gold coast trying to tempt some Bream into surface action but havent had any luck yet. Does anyone have any favourite lures/colours for either of these locations? Also would the tidal stage have as much effect on the size of the bream schooling under the jetties? Cheers,
    Kev

    G'day Kev,

I prefer the run-up tide and 1st hour or so of the run out tide. Any small poppers around 40mm should do the trick. I usually work them slowly with lots of pauses. Lately though I have been fishing un-weighted plastics on the surface and have found the strike rate to be much better than hard bodies. Try the Ecogear pink grubs or Squidgy bugs.

    Cheers

try and fish for the bream with surface lures in shallower water mate. Especially over sand . Just make long casts so as not to spook the fish.

as rod said, cast onto sand if theres any near by. latest trips we have pulled all our bream off the sand, here a bit of info here:

you'll see the poppers i used in some of the pics, small ones roughly 3-4cm.
