    Re: brisbane river

I couldn't possibly remember every species I ever caught in the river and where I caught them.

But here is some info that my help in your survey:

Fortailed catfish are very prevalent throughout the river system.

Bream, Flathead, Whiting, Shovelnosed sharks and Stingrays caught frequently in the lower reaches near and up from the mouth.

Garfish often caught at Colleges Crossing and Mullet also and the occassional shark.

Up in the freshwater section up-stream of Mount Crosby Weir you catch Forktailed catfish and Bass predominately.

    Re: brisbane river

    lower reaches - catfish
    middle reaches - catfish
    upper reaches - catfish

I live on the river near the city and have given up fishing it, even though I hear occasional reports of muddies, jew and squire catches close by. I just despise catfish.

But fish caught so far include: bream, flathead, whiting, gar, mullet, tarpon, banded grunter, spangled perch, tilapia, silver perch, lungfish, bull sharks, mudcrabs, tupong (some fresh water, flathead looking thing?) and some crimson-spot rainbowfish in the cast net oh and of course catties (both salmon-tail and eel-tail)

All caught between colleges and Mt Crosby weir

Shit loads of bull sharks in summer, float a baloon out with a livie on a 1.5metre tracer and have two other rods on snoot rigs hitting the bott and always use livies

    Re: brisbane river

Also out near Pinkenba I hooked up to what looked a lot like a small barracuda or something. It bit through the light leader nearish the boat though so im not totally sure, couldve been a tailor.

    Re: brisbane river

Definately squire near the mouth, huge mullet schools on occaision, some pike as well. Huge pike eels in doughboy creek as well as the odd jew and jack.

You get a few (gold or red)spot cod while chasing squire and jew as well.

Further up in the fresh there are also lungfish.

Caught both muddies and sandies near the sunken wall.
