also does any 1 have a pic of what a morwong looks like? as my dad caught 2 fish around 35cm..that we werent sure of what they were..only had a map with some pics of fish.. and kinda looked like a morwong.. here is a pic
1. Sergeant Major, 2, Damsel Fish, 3. Baby Red Emperor
2 other fish are morwong.. possibly queen morwong.. they are pretty faded looking.. the blubbery lips give them away.. if they were a pale blueish colour, then they were Queen Morwong and are also known as mother in law fish.. they are edible.. but ya gotta be desperate
1. Bar-faced Weever or Rock Whiting (not tobad on the tooth either).
2. Seargent Major
3. Juvenile Red Emperor
4. Morwong, Blubberlip, Mother-in-Law, Mowong, Slatey - take your pick.
Mate, A really good little book that we never leave shore without is the DPI book called Fish Guide. Was only $6.95. It has put a little light on lots of our mysteries.
P.S. All your fish are listed with pictures, descriptions, legal sizes and bag limits.
tell your old man there are a certain amount of responsibilities that come with the privilege of being able to go fishing - dont keep undersized fish, learn to identify your catch and if in doubt return your fish safe to the water. On the rare chance that your father was searched, he would have recieved a very nasty fine for being in possesion of undersized fish - Are you guys from england or have you been living in a bubble?
hey raefpud..no we r not from england.. from brisbane
so your telling me that those morwong were undersize? for there legal limit? we had a tide book on us plus i also downloaded legal size limits off a goverment site and it had no morwong on it either..all of the other fish pics i showed i said they were released..
cheers
sean
