just wondering what the best rig for floating a pillie down the burley trail. what sort of weight to use? some people have been telling me true turn hooks with swivel between hooks.
i'll have to post that with my experience obv dep. on target species.... i go a snell rig through the mouth and sting the tail of the pillie.... as for weight, io find a barrell sinker no 5. works for me at tempest... i'm really not a big fan of the ol ball sinker....
hope this helps
if i do berley up i use no weight... \think its better for presentation
Don’t forget mono trace...
Depending the current if slow = no sinker
Strong = add sinker to keep pilly down to 1-2m where mack like strike.
Burley is good idea to encourage fish
Hopes it help you
We find that a small piece of sheet lead spiralled around the second hook in a gang of 4 works really well. 50lb penn trace or jinkai to hook and tied back to black swivel on main line.
Here is a pic of the Tru Turn set up. As others have said, just add enough weight to slowly get the bait down to the depth the fish are working at. This depth varies from day to day and weight needs to be adjusted for the current.
