I reckon Flathead too, anyone who reckons whiting is the best has no taste buds.. Nah, joking, it does nothing for me, each to their own, the reef species listed above are hard to beat. Can't say I've seen a tusky for a while, but yeah, parrot are nice.
Being an estuary fisherman, I love Flathead, Whiting and Estuary Cod. I have heard Mangrove Jack are top shelf but I always release all Jacks I catch so I guess I will never know. When I was in Weipa, Threadfin Salmon were very popular to eat - better than Barra in my opinion (and many of the locals I spoke to).
speckled trout from the gulf of mexico is about same taste as whiting i guess you can work out best by there price in the fish shops we sometimes diff on what we like best but one things for sure queensland reefs are blessed with an amazing range of top eating fish . while back we had a member wanting to match redfish in a cook book ive only had it blackened makes it hard to match it to a local fish . any ideas ? cheers
Fresh Tailor smoked or fried is beautiful.
Also i think its good to change up the type of fish you eat from time to time. Too much tailor gets boring and a nice feet of whiting or flathead is a nice change.
