    caught some a while back looked up in a book at the local tackle shop as a fry pan snapper and l as legal sige 30 cm as i recall

    Here in Townsville they are called Frying Pan Snapper or Long Spined Snapper, i caught about 20 of tem up to 40 cm & through them all back because I didn't know what they were.

    Just checked local South African Refernce books - Different local names, but the same fish by Sci Names.

    The South African Angling Record is 6.2kg

    I wonder if the taste changes with age when they get to that size ?
