I went to Jacobs Well last Friday and caught 1 prawn for the day, if I worked out the cast net throwing a little earlier I would have caught more.
Cheers

G'day
Come sunday i'm looking at going out and chasing the prawns. They were in numbers out from nudgee last sunday and I got onto only a couple down the logan river on monday. I'd like to know if anyone has any idea from reports or experiance on what they're going to be doin this weekend?

I had two goes at them over Easter break down the Logan, Saturday we got a Kilo for our efforts, so for the 3 hours we tried, and feed a 70 HP Jonno fuel, I would have been better off buying from the prawn farm which I passed on the way to Rudy Maas where I launched At least I know they would be good quality and local.
Vowing to hang up the cast net for this season after that dissappointing run on Sat, my 10yo wanted to go for a run on Monday, and because the weather was ordinary for anywhere but Estuary, decided to give it another bash. I am a sucker for punishment, this time the prawns all but bugged out.
I doubt I will try again unless some good natured Ausfisher gives me a reliable tip on where they are ??

Just had a bloke in at work telling me that they going off in the Burrum river, he lives up that way and was off on holidays and I asked where he was going? Evans head chasing Snapper and Pearlies....poor bugger

i was out on the water catching a few bullies and bronze whalers out from nudgee beach.... ther must have been about 12 trawlers out there particularly close in... ive been getting lots of prawns out of the river lately mostly around 12 13 cms.....
cheers, troy
what are they like up round rocky ?
G'day
So troy their still up there off of nudgee? good to hear. I got a feed @ logan on monday and had seen them working on sunday off nudgee.
Dave
yeah but as u no prawns r there one day and gone the next as is alot of fish.... did u hear that a teenager caught a 42kg i think it was marlin in cabbage tree creek because it followed a prawn trawler back into the creek.... dunno if it was a local marlin wateing for a feed or because it was attracted by the white wash out the bak of the boat from out deep to in shallow???
anyway, cheers, troy
G'day
Thats an interesting one about the marlin. Although funny things do happen..... i find it very hard to believe. Dont see how a marlin could be etertained by the whitewash for a coupla hours whilst the trawler comes in from out wide. And also, once the water qulity turns to crap, it'd realise and go out again?
