Logan River Dam
How do you think the Logan River will be fishing during and after construction of the proposed dam.
Or won't it make a lot of difference, or will time tell. I can't imagine it getting better, but u never know.
Wonder if it will make a difference around the powerlines also.
Any theories out there.
cheers, Steve.

Re: Logan River Dam
I think it could make a fair bit of difference, I have lived on the Logan for the last 30+ years and have seen it go from clean and flowing with fish all year to orange and smelly with no water and less fish. If they put in another dam on the system, it should help with water flow and cleanliness in the fresh and may be the benefits will flow on down to the salt. After all many of our estuary species will live in brackish water. Unfortunately only time will tell and if the powers that be have got it wrong and it completely stuffs the fishing they aren't likely to remove the dam for us.

Re: Logan River Dam
I seriously doubt that it will make much difference. The proposed location of the dam is way upstream, an area where I used to visit and cross the river in a 4WD often. Unless rain had been recent, the flow of fresh at Rathdowney is quite small, and many dairy farms/horse studs in the area pumped heaps out of it for irrigation. Not much fresh ever really reached the tidal zone unless significant rain occurred.

Re: Logan River Dam
The only good thing will be another fish stocked enpoundment, the question is will they find a way to clear out the carp before hand?

Don't be in any hurry to get out the bass gear. As you know, Peter Beattie has to announce the same project 3 times before anything happens.
The Gold Coast cuise ship terminal has been announced twice, and there is absolutely nothing doing there.......
