    Sutton's Beach

Every now and then we have to run a few errands to Redcliffe and when we take the kids they like to go to the Sutton's beach playground.

I was thinking more of splashing around in that other big playground, the one without a fence.

Ok, there should be whiting, bream, flathead, all the usual suspects there but I was hoping to gain a little specialised knowledge if there is any out there.

    Any (fishing related) suggestions?

Probably not much going on there during the day time at this time of year. A pilchard cast and retrieved around dawn or dusk could easily produce a tailor through the winter time, particularly if fishing from the rocks at either end of the beach. There will also be bream around the rocks, especially when the tide is high and through the winter I often get good flathead taking my tailor baits when fishing from Scott's Point (the rocks at the southern end). During spring and early summer Sutton's is a good summer whiting spot. Fish a rising tide in the early morning using worms. The quality of the whiting is often pretty good. They bight best when there's a bit of a SE breeze stirring the water up a bit.

As said above Whiting down Margate beach where there's a bit more water in the summer on dusk, wrigglers are the go. Should be able to nail a couple of bream/squire of the rocks down the surf club way on hardy heads or whitebait. We use to play with the blue ring octopus in the rock in front of where that playground is now, that mullet and toads are about the only thing that feed along those shallows.

Scotts point will fire any time soon with tailor.

I would not have a clue how you go down there with SP.

Tell you a secert take a boat "garnet rock" is the beacon staight out Yeah ha
