Amity Channel still safe to cross it

Last weekend I when out through South passage bar when out though the northern the was pretty ordinary with 1 to 1.5 metre pressure waves
after days fishing there I head back through the middle channel I was coming in the last part of it only 1.8m deep luckly was on high tide starting to sand bank back there again
The reason I am asking is bceuse heading out there agian as rule I go though the northern channel way out and come back one of the other channels but have been over Amity end since xmas and was getting shallow then and with recent big sea's haven't brother crossing it
So anyone has been over that end recently and the GPS marks below still close enough below to be able get back in on
    AMITY S 27.22 994 E 153 27 112 IN AMITY 27 23 088 E153 26 912
    OUT AMITY 27 23 388 153 28 375

I always use the Amity Channel if going in that direction.

Has always been pretty shallow on the beach side but you have to have the courage of your convictions to keep on the plane when you cross the swirly sandy bits of water!

    Looks worse than it is!

Last time I found two entrances on the western side like in a Y fashion. The northern arm seemed pretty good with deeper water than the beach side.

Some pretty big "sets" further out but lots of room to outrun them!

There was a still a good eastly swell out there even with SE wind has been blowing you would think Amity end be safe to cross it
I can tell you I tried come home through there late yesterday it was good size waves breaking there I couldn't even see the channel so I ditch that way come home through the middle channel where there was no waves breaking

we had the same trouble on friday we went out through amity and 1 hour later it had waves breaking right across and thats about 40minutes after high tide. still could of made it in but with over $55k of vessel and gear we opted for northern channel. which is alot safer imo but when we fish mainly south of the bar it makes it a good 30minutes longer to get outside. a few weeks ago you couldnt even see a entry to the amity bar end and it was a millpond outside. the channel is getting very shallow so i would recommend the north channel for anyone not too experienced with bar atm. i havent been through the middle channel for years but watch a trawler come through on friday it had some good sets breaking through there aswell but looked pretty safe if you know it well enough.
