I tried to enter it last year and it was the saddest and most pathetically organized event I have ever seen. Even the one and only bait shop in town had no idea!
Nobody knew where it was, when it started and the beaches were full of fishos all asking "where is it do you know?"
Never really ever found anyone who was in it so hope this year it is better organized!

Pink panther... this year it is being run by the Lions club (and Vmr I think) just like it used to be so it should go off smothly as it is not being run by "Salt", Last year it was not held

just re-read the entry form .... they do not have a ph number on it so I can not help you, other than saying that sign on is at the surf club at cabarita at 12 noon till 6pm Sat 10/6/06. I'm sure you should be able to get an entry form from most tackle shops or just show up on the day as there is no need to post you entry in as you still have to sign in on the day

Just a message to those heading to the classic ,what a great comp it has b
been a shme that over tha last few years the comp is on but then its not due
public liability issues and other factors not worth mentioning .

respect the locals and leave the beach the way we found it and the
classic will be around for years to come .

Also pop in and say hello to bevan at his bait shop top bloke who is willng
to share local knowlege of whats around.

Does anyone know if we will be able drive on cotton beach and casurina
beach since now they have built the resort as i have heard through local
goss salt is trying to restrict people using that section of beach/

    Re: Green Back Fishing comp.

Yeh i'd like to see them school up in front of salt with 100 blokes pullin them in that would upset
    salt .
I herd they want to close that section of beach for resort users only like they do up in port douglas.

Does anyone know if they are giving out permits to drive onthe beach this year ?

Aslo their have been some good catches around lately down those parts over the last couple
of weeks up to around 6 to 7 pound ,hopefully they'll be in good nubers this year as it has
been hard fishing over the last couple of years .
Tight lines and good luck see ya their Bevo

P.S Just make sure ya have your licenses as the ranger will be working the beach over the weekend
