Fingal is a great ramp, Ive used it a couple of times when fishing that end of the river and being a deckie for an offshore trip.
It's fairly wide, got a nice beach next to it and a pontoon on the other side if needed. One thing though is that the carpark is abit concealed from the road so make sure the trailers lock up.
cheers and good luck

A lock will not always stop your trailer going walkies'. A mate of mine lost his trailer about 2 mths ago, spose it could happen at any ramp though
Rainbow Trout is NOT skittle flavoured fish.........
I saw that old thread on theft at fingal ramp. Made me get my insurance up to date, even tho I use the Nth GC ramps.

I use the ramp at fingal almost every time and have found it great especially for drive ons, it`s a tad shallowly raked requiring a lot of tilt to clear prop on retreval but it doesn`t seem too greasy at low tide.
Also the crews that regularly use it are generaly patient, if you show curtosy its returned.
Ilike it mostly cause it`s out of wind and tide and generally a lot less trafficed than kennedy.
There are cleaning tables over near the dive shop next to the car park.,
top ramp, gets busy though, good facilities,BUT there is the issue of theft try to park closer to road as its off the road a bit where you launch and somtimes bad things happen i came back one night after a jack session to find my trailer lights smashed and toolbox attacked luckily they couldnt get in, i suppose it could happen anywhere just here of a night more often
Is there access to the open ocean from here? What is the bar like? Is this the best spot to leave from to fish Cook Island etc?
I am new to that area, and would love to fish the open sea down that way.
Cheers
yeah marlinqld,
the ramp is off kerosene inlet which is about 2ks from the mouth of the tweed river, if that.
The bar as all others should be approached when swell isn`t to big, for heading out a flooding tide is kinder than the run out.
Generally i like less than1.7 mrs of swell but i guess it all depends on your boat, don`t forget life jackets are compulsory, this area is patroled regularly.
Tweed bar is the closest if your fishin close to cook(don`t forget it`s a sanctury) so stay outside the yellow markers.
Contact vmr point danger on 90 or checkout coastwatch cams at duranbar.
You won't have any problems launching at fingal, even I can launch there singled handed.
There is a washing down area and a pontoon, plus the ramp is boardered by sand, so you can leave the boat to park the trailer, and not worry too much about scratches if it's a fibreglass.
do be careful of the Tweed bar, particularly on the back tide, go on the making tide if you are not a regular.
Good luck

The only problem I have is the Tweed bar. I have fished the rock walls there alot, and I must say it is one of the worst bars I have come across on the East Coast.
I am used to good bars such as Crookhaven River near jervis bay, Mooloolaba, 2 of the better bars on the east Coast.
Too far to tow the boat back to Culburra every year from Brisbane, so when I go down there I have to rely on friends for a trip outside.
Still, one day when it is very good weather i might wander down there and do some bar practice to get used to the area.
