Just wondering if anyone has got any tips on the table quality of preparing and eating Pike, I ask this because I seem to catch quite a few of them with fishing SP's for Squire.

fillet the large ones from the ribcage down and breadcrumb them and tell everyone they are whiting
Cook them the same way as you cook mountain ducks:
# 1. Get a big pot of water, add lots of salt and bring it to the boil
# 2. Add a fist size piece of granite and the pike, filleted.
# 3. Cook until the granite gets soft
# 4. Chuck the pike and eat the granite...
boom boom
I often eat them and will catch them in preference to winter whiting any time. They are often twice the size of the winter whiting you catch on the western side of the bay. The trick is to fillet them as soon as you can and skin the fillets. The longer they are kept the softer they become. Don't worry about the smell they have when fresh, there is nothing like that in the taste. They are a very acceptable little eating fish.

If you release a pike with a hook in his back & dont catch a jew, there's none there.
