    Presentation for squire on plastics?

Just after a few hints and tips on presenting plastics to squire. Will be using the stick bait style as well as grubs like the gulps, in up to 20m of water. What form of attack seems to work best for you guys? Do ya just dead stick it and let the boat rocking movement do the work? Sharp flicks of the rod tip? Cast and retrieve, slow roll or hop? Anchor or drift? Any info would be much appreciated.

    Cheers

    hey tiges,
i only fish in shallow "25 feet or less" and let the jig sink to the target and then flick it up a metre or so then let it fall again. almost all hits come on the drop so watch your line. i use the smalles heads possible, which mean 5/8 ounce or less depending on current although i would guess you would require more weight fishing greater depth. thats what i do but i've had limited success of late and there may be others out there with better advice to give.
    cheers

Re: Presentation for squire on plastics?

I'm just getting back into fishing for squire, I have found that as light as possible is definitly best in both jig head 1/16 to 1/6 and line as well 4lb to 8lb seems to give the best chance. I have tried over the last few weeks just about every action with the rod tip and cannot say what works best as I had a freind on board the boat a couple of times who had his rod in the rod holder and out fished me twice ??? how embaressing

I anchor on the edge of a 3-5m reef like the ones in mortan bay and look on the sounder u look at the bait school and drop a 2/0 hook with squid down as deep as the fish chasing the bait school is 99%of the time it is Snapper or sweetlip.

    Hope my advice helps
