At night I find the best baits for bream to be mullet/chook gut or live yabbies.

    Re: Best Night Bait

The best bait for bream I have found is fresh mullet gut and chicken breast soaked in tuna oil. These two baits will produce the biggest bream from my experience.

Give them a go. If you use mullet gut the best is to use 2 hooks one hook tied to the end of your line and one free hook running up and down. Then bait your fixed hook and use the second to help hold the mullet gut in place.

    Best of luck

Mullet flesh is good bait to use but I don't think it is the best for bream

I use pilchard cubes and little lead as possible. you don't get bites just bang and your on. this is when the tailor are smashing up the pillies at the surface and all the bits and pieces sink to the bottom

some good points guys, I guess it depends on where your fishing a fair bit too.. one of my favorite baits for them is actually whitebait but it dosn't last too long on the hook.. mullet flesh on the other hand will hang on while getting picked and picked and picked from the little guys. if on the beach try and find some pippies, most of the surf bream I have caught were on pippies although I have caught a couple with a ganged pillie!!!

    Cheers

A good bait for bream is also ox heart, cut it into small strips and thread it on like a worm. You might not catch a huge amount of fish, but you will catch the bigger ones. I have never failed using it.

Had my first try on chicken thigh strips marinated in a little garlic last night. The pickers couldn't clean the bait up and I had enough successs to try it some more. You might want to try it as a bait option. I'm hoping to try it Sat. night on a second rod and do a comparison.
