Ahh the old luderick.. luv fishing for them, think ur hardest bet will be finding a good supply of green or black weed....and NO not the stuff u smoke
plenty down here on the tweed... will be dusting off my luderick gear very very shortly
You can buy weed at Nev Howards shop on the GC hwy at Southport. I might try the sand pumping jetty soon. Did no good last year tho, I found em hard to find, and finnicky about weed.
Still, I like the taste of em.

I have an idea Id like to share.
The culinary herbs,Dill, fennel,& Chervil, all have a pronounced Aniseed flavour.
I wonder if Luderick would take a bait of one of these, particularly as many fish respond to aniseed oil. You would probably have to steam the herb or pour boiling water over it to make it soft like a marine plant.
Be interested to hear if anyone gives it a try.

rando a lot of guys use to put aniseed on the weed, just a couple of small drops..... many if not all luderick anglers are very very ...very secretive about their locations for gathering weed... once u find a good location dont fill ur 5l bucket up..look after it and half the hard work is already done.. just remeber bait presentation for luderick is VERY important
Northern bank of the river under or near Boyds Bay bridge is a hot spot at times for them.
Try caloundra boardwalk or go to the right hand side pop under the rails walk up the rocks 10 mtrs. good flat rocks to stand on . take both weeds if ya can ,string & cabbage ,black dont work here, fish the run out it is by far the best . some of the better fish are caught near the bottom of the tide,
Dont forget a net as you will need it . lots of old timers fish here just watch them. it takes practice to catch these fish, very rewarding ,hope it goes well , once you start fishing for them you will not stop, addictive!THats Fishing.
cheers dave
