How U avoid loose line when fishing plastics?

Hi all

New to plastics fishing, but keep reading best results come from twitching/jerking lure, then winding in slack line and twitching again etc
How do I solve the problem of loose line being wound back onto the reel causing tangles in GSP?

You could try winding in fast every 10 casts or so as this would put the line back under a bit of pressure

generally I thought the idea was to let the plastic sink after "twitching" until it took up the slack before winding in / twitching again?

this is a common problem when first using braid. get into the habit of laying line back on as you would when respooling. i grab it inbetween forefinger and second finger to put some pressure on it, as you become used to using it , it becomes second nature to do. alternatively you can raise your rod to take the slack out before you start the retrieve action. its the slack line that causes the probs. i have been using braid for 5 years now and occasionally it still happens, the benefits of using braid far outweigh this hiccup. persist with it mate, if you do get a tangle, dont pull the line tight in frustration, this is the worst thing you can possibly do as it leaves no alternative but to cut the knot out. hope these tips help you. cheers maxi

Thanks Maxi.........spend years learning how to fish, and now am starting from scratch all over again!

Should probably invest in the DVD about how to fish soft plastics - am trying to do everything from articles etc. All good advice, but one quick look at how its done properly, and a lightbulb should (hopefully) come on
