hey guys iam 15 and i am going to the pin for my birthday on the weekend andi am keen on catching my first flattie on soft plastics does anybody kno any landbased spots at the pin that are good for flatties
Hope you can walk on water little buddy. The Pin is very hard to get too if you don't have a boat! You can try some great spots around Jacobs Well and Cabbage Tree point for landbased flaties.
hey younstar,
not sure of any land based spots but the plastic i have had a great deal of success on in the lower end of the bay is the gulp- 4inch mullet with wriggly tail fished on a 1/6 or 1/8 jig head.
if you can see patches of weed on the sand or mud banks, concentrate on these areas first.
also i have caught alot of fish right near the banks in the pin/russell island area.. last time i caught 6 of the 12 within 5-7m of the bank.. all very close to remote weed beds on sand banks in 0.5-1.5m of water.

Jacobs well is not such a big place... just start at one end of the "beach" - if there is any and work your way to the other end try and cast into the channel and hop your placcy over the drop off. the other place to try which is nearby is cabbage tree point boat ramp - at low tide there is more "beach" there and more area to work your plastic. But dont forget right around the ramp itself - I have seen and caught good flathead from there... Good luck youngsta
