Hi Guys, Heading to North West Island off Gladestone in sept. Can anyone advise some marks or what will be in season. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Re: NORTH WEST ISLAND

    Hi Chutz,
I was out that way last week and had a ball drifting around the sou-western edge and small shoals just to the south of the island. GPS marks are not really that important out there in September as this huge reef complex is littered with fish life.
Expect to find coral trout, red throat emperor, grassie sweetlip, jobfish, tuskfish and parrot and all mannor of tropical snappers.
Out a bit wider and in deeper waters you can find big red emperor and nannygai among'st a hoard of other mixed species. Best baits to get you started are squid and pillies. You will also catch a lot of less desirable fish that can be used as flesh bait to keep you going.
    John.

Also make sure you check where all the green zones are!
